Fans Deserve Better Than Justice League

One of the most anticipated movies of the year ended up with some disappointing reviews. Justice League was released November 17 and has made over $570 million at the box office. The movie starts out (SPOILER ALERT) with grieving the death of Superman. We are then introduced to a new, yet not so original, alien villain wanting to destroy Earth. With this chaos, Batman thinks to roundup the top superheroes to fight the alien SteppenWolf together.

The famous cast includes Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), the Flash (Ezra Miller), Batman (Ben Affleck), Cyborg (Ray Fisher), and Aquaman (Jason Mamoa). Superman, played by Henry Cavill, also makes an appearance.
The movie currently has a 40% on Rotten Tomatoes. Jonah Goldberg with The National Review went on about how poorly done Cyborg's CGI was. "Heck, the Beast in the TV series Angel was so, so much more lifelike. Moreover, they didn't need to make his face out of what looked like semi-hardened concrete." Ouch.
Alyssa Rosenberg's review for The Washington Post was a bit kinder but still managed to express her disappointment with the movie, saying "But everyone involved in making Justice League and everyone who will eventually see it, deserved something better than this. The most dominant genre in movies shouldn't be this muddled - or this timid."
In the end, Rosenberg and Goldberg agreed the best part of the film was Ezra Miller's delightful take on the Flash, providing some comedic relief, as well as Gal Gadot's excellent performance as Wonder Woman.
As a die-hard superhero fan, I was disappointed in the movie as well. I grew up watching the Justice League TV show and this movie did nothing to show how amazing these heroes are. Batman was only useful for gathering the rest of the Justice League and was mostly on the sidelines. Cyborg and the overall movie had poor CGI and Cyborg had no emotions basically making him a robot. They should've based his character on the upbeat Cyborg from Teen Titans. Wonder Woman was probably the best part of the whole movie and one of the few superheroes in the movie with a true personality and Gal Gadot did a wonderful job. Ezra Miller was another favorite part of the movie as he played a perfect Flash. But they should have truly shown Aquaman's powers, as well as more of his backstory.
In the end I would still recommend seeing the movie. It still is a big hit and it's always good to form your own opinion on the film. Overall, I agree with Rosenberg's comment: superhero fans deserve better.
