Four Movies and TV Shows on Netflix People Can’t Stop Talking About

Netflix has been in the news recently for their spikes in pricing, but that is not why people cannot stop talking about the platform. After the explosion that was Birdbox (and the memes that came along with it), comes these four tv shows and movies that people are raving about. Whether you’re on Twitter or Instagram or just on campus, I’m sure someone you know has mentioned one.

1. You

You originally aired on Lifetime and surprisingly I heard nothing about it until it hit Netflix. The show follows Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley), a bookstore employee with a mysterious past, who becomes obsessed with a grad student, Guinevere Beck (Elizabeth Lail).

After that, it took the world by storm. Everyone I know was telling me it was a must-see. So, of course, I watched it, and I definitely recommend. If you want a thriller and to get into the mind of a self-justified deranged man, it’s a perfect fit for you.

2. Sex Education

Next up, we have Sex Education. It’s definitely on the opposite spectrum of You. If you’re more into a comedy with your daily dose of crude humor, then this show is for you. It centers around Otis (Asa Butterfield), a teenage boy who hasn’t really gotten the hang of his sexuality yet, and it doesn’t much either help that his mother is a sex therapist.

He meets Maeve (Emma Mackey), a troubled loner and she decides they should team up and start a sex therapy clinic at school. It’s quite comical and worth the watch. Plus, it’s British, and who doesn’t love a proper British accent?

3. Conversations with a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes

Now that we’ve left the realm of fiction, it’s time to talk about the docu-series about the serial killer, Ted Bundy. Conversations with a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes covers the crimes and cases of Ted Bundy, who assaulted and murdered numerous young women. It includes archived footage, interviews, and everything you need if you’re a true crime addict. But this documentary is not the only one that has caught viewers’ attention…

4. Fyre: The Greatest Party That Never Happened

Last but not least, the documentary everyone and their mother has been talking about; Fyre: The Greatest Party That Never Happened. The Fyre Festival was supposed to occur in April and May of 2017. It was headed by Billy McFarland and had names like Ja Rule associated with it. The web of lies involved in this festival is absolutely fascinating.

From the influencers involved like Emily Ratajkowski and Elsa Hosk to the “villas” with soaking wet mattresses, it was a scam that will most likely go down in history. It left many workers unpaid and festival goers without a place to sleep. It was so horrible not one, but two documentaries were made. The other one is on Hulu, and many have been watching both. I guess it makes for a good “spot the difference” game, but it’s up to you.

There you have it ladies and gents, two TV shows, a docu-series, and documentary to add to your list. I am sure this is plenty enough content for you to use to procrastinate. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to go watch the other Fyre Festival documentary on Hulu.
