“Thank U, Next” Is Throwing It Back

Ariana Grande’s “Thank U, Next” became popular instantaneously after its release. It made Spotify history by breaking the record of fastest song to exceed 100 million streams. So, with such an extraordinary song must come an iconic video, right? Well, Ari has gone above and beyond to give fans the ultimate treat. The music video is already quite popular because it pays tribute to some of our favorite movies.

On November 27th, Grande posted the Thank U, Next trailer and fans were not disappointed. The trailer uses the “Who is Regina George?” scene where students talk about how amazing Regina George is, except some of these students are a bit different from the original actors. The trailer included Troye Sivan, Colleen Ballinger also known as Miranda Sings, and even Gabi DeMartino, who was known to do parodies of the singer. Although she’s not in the trailer, it is assumed that Elizabeth Gillies will take the role of Cady Heron. She definitely looks the part in one of the teaser photos Grande posted on Instagram.

The trailer still had some familiar faces like Jonathan Bennett, our one and only Aaron Samuels and Stefanie Drummond getting back into character as the girl obsessed with Regina George. But that begs the question, who will be Regina George? Well, it would be none other than Ariana Grande herself. She will be the head “plastic” in the music video.

Considering the original Mean Girls scene centers on rumors about Regina George, the trailer focuses on rumors and jokes about Grande. There are a few Pete Davidson jokes sprinkled in here and there, but we are here for it.

According to TMZ, the music video is set to release this Friday so get ready to be hit with some much-needed nostalgia and homage to our early 2000s’ divas. After the release of the trailer, Lindsey Lohan, behind the scenes at a shoot, took to Instagram with the caption “Ain't nobody Lindsay Lohan like the real Lindsay Lohan. But so flattered by @arianagrande loving #MeanGirls so much! Also, I love #dynasty”. That’s a bit of shade, but what can we say? Thank u, next.
