Eat Healthy & Exercise
We have definitely all set this goal before and have probably not followed through with it. Perhaps, you wanted to see an instant change after just one or two days of eating right and exercising and didn’t? Therefore, you decided to stop and continue living life as you normally would. Let’s commit to the goal this year! You will not see a change after one day of eating right and exercising. However, you will if you make it a habit and not think about seeing a change every day. Do your part even if you cut back on portions or dessert. Every little thing will help in the end!
Find a New Hobby
Sometimes the same routine gets boring after a while, and change isn’t a bad thing. Maybe you never knew you had a passion for acting if you have never tried it before. Be spontaneous and try something new whether it be taking an acting class for fun, filming a video with your friends, playing soccer, going skydiving, painting a picture, etc. Who knows? You may become the next expert in your newfound hobby!
Spend Time with Your Family and Elders
As we grew up to be teenagers, all we could think about was our friends and when we could hang out with them next. We seem to have forgotten who has been there for us from the start – family. Be sure to set time aside from your busy schedules to spend with your family. They care about you more than you think and family time can be fun! Family vacations are more memories in the books to share with friends and reminisce on later in life. Grandparents are important as well. Even though they are older and can’t do as much as they used to, a meal with them will make their day!
Do Something Nice for Someone
Good karma is a thing too! Do something nice, and something nice will happen in return. There is a lot of hatred in this world right now, and it is comforting and nice to see when something good happens. Make it your goal to do at least one nice thing for someone next year whether it be a favor for your brother, volunteering at a school, donating to a charity, surprising your mom by cleaning the house, etc. It can’t hurt you and will only benefit you, so give it a shot!
Get Involved in Something
If you ever feel like you are not doing enough or that your schedule isn’t packed, then make a change! Being part of something is not only fun, but also can make you feel special. You could apply for a job, apply for an internship, join a club/organization, take a class, etc. This will only make you a better person; whether that is learning more, preparing for the real world/adulthood, or giving back to your community. The more experience you have, the better off you are!
Become More Confident in Yourself
If you are ever feeling low and that you aren’t good enough to do something, then change your mindset. I know that is easier said than done, but really put your mind to it. The only thing stopping you is you. The more confidence you have in yourself, the better you will be at whatever it is you may want to do. If you do not believe in yourself, then how will others be able to? Practice your skills in what you want to achieve and go for it. Practice will help boost your confidence and then your limits will be endless.
Travel
Time certainly does fly by, and we must begin to take advantage of it while we can! Many people have not seen other parts of the world besides the state they live in. There is so much more out there than we think! Take the time this coming year to take one trip and explore a new place that you have never been to; somewhere in the U.S., Europe, Canada, South America, Africa, Asia and so on. It will really open your eyes, and you won’t regret it. I promise! Save up for a trip by setting aside a certain amount of money each month into a separate account for it, so it doesn’t seem like a big expense when the time comes!
