Nicole Kidman has officially swept the 2017-2018 award season for her role as Celeste Wright in the HBO critically acclaimed drama Big Little Lies. Playing a woman who is abused by her husband, Kidman was rightfully nominated and awarded for the category of best female actress in a limited series or TV movie. Coming out of the award season with a Prime time Emmy, a Golden Globe, a Critics Choice Award, and a SAG Award to her name. Kidman already had three Golden Globes and two Critics Choice Awards under her belt, however despite being previously nominated 10 times this is her first win for a SAG as well as a first for an Emmy.

Kidman used her acceptance speeches as a platform to address important issues in hollywood and everywhere. Her Emmy and Golden Globe acceptance speeches tackled the importance of shining light on domestic violence and hoping to evoke change by having the conversation keep going. Her most recent acceptance speech for her SAG Award called out Ageism in Hollywood. Noting that 20 years ago the women in her category, including herself, would not have been considered. Kidman addressed that now times have changed and women can have a career in Hollywood that goes past 40.

The True Blood actor played Perry Wright, the abusive husband to Kidman's character on Big Little Lies. Nominated once for an ensemble category at the SAG Awards, this is the first time Skarsgård has won, let alone been nominated for an individual performance for a notable award.
